Delta, BC | August 28, 2026 — Anodyne Chemistries Inc., a Burnaby-based chemicals company, today announced that its first industrial pilot plant for the production of sustainable formates and formic acid was installed in Delta, BC in July 2026. The facility is the first industrial-scale deployment of the company's Bioelectric® platform, which converts captured carbon dioxide into specialty chemicals.

The plant produces potassium formate, sodium formate and formic acid — used in runway de-icing, agriculture, drilling and construction — and oxygen as a co-product. Commissioning is now underway, with first operation targeted for Q3 2026.

Scaling Bioelectric® Manufacturing

The Bioelectric® platform gives manufacturers access to low-cost, high-quality formates and formic acid made from captured CO₂ and electricity, rather than from conventional fossil-derived feedstocks. By running the reaction electrochemically at ambient conditions, the process is designed to be modular and rapidly reproducible.

"This pilot proves the platform works consistently and reliably at industrial scale, and crucially it gives our first customers commercially relevant volumes in hand. Our goal has always been abundance — putting a competitively priced, sustainable alternative in the hands of the industries that use these chemicals every day." said Iain Evans, Chief Executive Officer of Anodyne Chemistries.

Anodyne, founded in 2021 and named to the Foresight50 list of Canada's most investable cleantech ventures, plans to use data from the pilot to inform the design of its first commercial-scale production train, and then scale up new low carbon products.
